GAIL ROBERSON, LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Missouri, Colorado, Texas, and Arizona.
Mid 1980s
My career began in 1985 as a case manager, serving at-risk families in Southwest Missouri.
1990s
After graduating from Pittsburg State University with a degree in clinical psychology, I was licensed as a Clinical Masters Level Psychologist in Kansas and specialized in forensic psychology. I worked with court systems and mental health centers in the four-state area performing forensic psychological evaluations, directing sexual offender treatment and victim-recovery programs, and offered workshops and seminars on treating high-risk individuals.
2000 - 2010
I expanded by private practice into a mental health agency, Southern Light Counseling, emphasizing victim recovery in the areas of sexual trauma, domestic violence, and childhood maltreatment. Much of my work was in coordination with Social Service agencies in Southwest Missouri.
2010 - 2019
Southern Light Counseling expanded once again to include a training program for provisionally licensed professional Counselors. PLPCs were given opportunity to practice under my mentorship and supervision. Concurrently, I carried a direct-service caseload, offering general mental health services in the Joplin, Missouri area.
2019 – Present
I offer Counseling through telehealth, and I write stories to help children navigate life’s challenges. I’m currently also working on a self-help book.
